Superintendent Milton Ayón Wong emphasized the need to strengthen supervisory and risk management capabilities, particularly in information security, financial consumer protection, banking stability and anti-money laundering. Discussions involving judicial officials, legal advisers and financial specialists covered artificial intelligence-enabled fraud and deepfakes, digital financial crime, cryptoassets in criminal investigations and banks’ new obligations and criminal risks under Law 478 of 2025. The program also addressed trust arrangements, insolvency and bank resolution, creditor roles, and technology and operational risk, while providing an update on the performance of Panama’s International Banking Center.
