Argentina Superintendency of Insurance (SSN) participated in Insurance Week 2026 in Mendoza, where Superintendent Guillermo Plate set out the supervisor’s modernization agenda, including greater use of real-time data and technology to strengthen oversight and a more efficient, risk-anticipating supervisory approach. In a panel on forthcoming supervision challenges in Latin America, Plate also pointed to an ongoing comprehensive review of the regulatory framework to help insurers adapt to international standards. The event, organised by the Centro de Investigaciones para el Desarrollo del Seguro (CIDeS), brought together public authorities, regulators and market participants. Plate linked economic growth and investment to higher insurance coverage, premiums and market sophistication, and highlighted opportunities to expand risk coverage and develop new products. As president of ASSAL, he moderated the session “La supervisión que viene: desafíos regulatorios en América Latina” with Luis Enrique Bandera, Jazmín Bernal Lugo and Ricardo Lara, focusing on the evolution of regulatory frameworks and the shift from reactive supervision to earlier identification of risks through data cross-checking, early-warning alerts and improved market information quality.
