Bank of Indonesia has published its Banking Survey for the fourth quarter of 2025, reporting faster growth in new loan disbursements compared with the previous quarter. The Weighted Net Balance (WNB) rose to 88.92% from 82.33% in the third quarter of 2025, while respondents expect new loan disbursements to continue growing in the first quarter of 2026, with a WNB of 55.74%. The survey also indicates that lending standards loosened in the fourth quarter of 2025, with a negative Lending Standards Index (LSI) of -2.59 across all loan types, mainly linked to administration fees, loan maturities and lending rates. For the first quarter of 2026, respondents anticipate a shift toward more prudent standards, with an LSI of 2.75. Respondents also remain optimistic about faster credit growth through end-2026 relative to realised credit growth in 2025, supported by the monetary and economic outlook and comparatively well-contained lending risk.
