The Egypt Financial Regulatory Authority has formed a committee to develop a standardized model for insurance pool bylaws under the 2024 Unified Insurance Law. The measure advances the authority’s implementation of the law by updating governance and management arrangements while accounting for the technical and specialized nature of each pool’s activities. The committee will review the bylaws of Egypt’s five existing insurance pools and identify provisions that should be standardized. Its model will cover governance, disclosure, conflicts of interest, membership, governing bodies, financial and investment arrangements, internal controls, risk management, specialized committees and dispute resolution. It will also draft the regulatory measures needed to adopt the model and propose a mechanism and timeframe for existing pools to bring their arrangements into compliance.
