The Argentina Securities Commission (CNV) and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) jointly ran a two-session virtual training programme on capital markets supervision and compliance, aimed at strengthening supervisory capacity and sharing international good practices. Led by SEC experts and delivered by Lourdes D. Caballes, Associate Director at the SEC’s New York Office, the first session focused on developing a risk-based supervision programme, including effective supervision principles, approaches to on-site examinations, promoting a culture of compliance, and the role of the compliance officer. The second session covered compliance programmes for broker-dealers, with a focus on strengthening intermediaries’ internal compliance and control systems and supporting dialogue between regulators and market professionals. CNV President Roberto E. Silva opened the programme, and CNV Vice President Sonia Salvatierra and board directors Laura Herbón and Manuel Calderón attended.
