The Bank of the Lao has announced an internal leadership reshuffle that combines the retirement of two senior officials with acting appointments and staff transfers across key support and supervisory functions. The changes affect the Information Technology Department, the Deposit Protection Office and the Non-Bank Financial Institution Supervision Department, and were presented as part of an organizational adjustment to align posts and responsibilities with current banking sector needs. Khaikaew Luangsivilai, head of the Information Technology Department, and Vongphachan Saengsouvann, head of the Deposit Protection Office, were approved to retire with pension benefits. Latsamee Souvanthong, previously deputy head of the Information Technology Department, was appointed acting head of that department. Viengdaly Souphanuvong moved from deputy head of the Non-Bank Financial Institution Supervision Department to acting head of the Deposit Protection Office. Vilaikham Pongphimkham was transferred from deputy head of the Bank of the Lao southern branch in Champasak province to deputy head of the Non-Bank Financial Institution Supervision Department. The bank linked the moves to a broader rotation and appointment process intended to make operations more agile and to strengthen its leadership and management structure.
