The Agency for Regulation and Development of the Financial Market of the Republic of Kazakhstan published its July securities market update, reporting that equity market capitalization rose 0.3% during the month to KZT 47.7 trillion as of Aug. 1, up 22.3% since the start of 2026. The increase was driven mainly by gains in KazMunayGas and Halyk Bank shares. The KASE Index advanced 1.2% to 7,807.55 points, while monthly equity trading volume fell 20.1% to KZT 19.8 billion. Corporate debt outstanding on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange increased 0.05% to KZT 16.8 trillion, while corporate bond trading rose 3.7-fold to KZT 1.3 trillion on higher primary-market activity. Government debt traded on KASE grew 0.4% to KZT 36.4 trillion, and government securities trading increased 28.8% to KZT 1 trillion. The Finance Ministry raised KZT 750.4 billion through nine bond issues with yields of 13.99% to 18.93%, while regional and Astana authorities raised KZT 81 billion. Investment fund assets under management declined 3.4% to KZT 314 billion, mainly because of lower fair values for securities and negative foreign-exchange revaluation. Accounts in the Central Securities Depository’s nominee holding system increased 2.4% to 5.75 million. Securities market professionals’ assets rose 2.3% to KZT 645.7 billion, liabilities increased 6.5% to KZT 175.1 billion and equity grew 0.9% to KZT 470.7 billion.
