The Danish Financial Supervisory Authority has announced that firms acting as credit intermediaries must be registered with the authority from 20 November 2026. The requirement applies to businesses that help customers find loans, provide information about loans, or help them obtain a loan on behalf of a creditor. Previously, these firms were subject only to limited rules, such as pre-contractual disclosure requirements. Firms carrying on credit intermediation without having applied by 20 November 2026 may be punished with a fine or imprisonment for up to four months. The authority also notes that certain credit intermediaries will fall within the scope of the new Anti-Money Laundering Regulation from 10 July 2027.
