The Rwanda Capital Markets Authority (CMA) has set out a training and licensing pathway, developed with the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), to strengthen professional standards and expand capacity in Rwanda’s capital market. The initiative provides a structured route for both new entrants and experienced professionals to obtain industry-recognised qualifications and meet regulatory requirements. At the centre is the Rwanda Market Licensing Pathway, a three-level programme covering foundational market knowledge, a Rwanda-specific regulatory module, and specialised technical units aligned to job roles. The pathway follows the issuance of a CMA Circular on Market Certification and Competency Standards dated 6 August, which sets expectations for licensed capital market entities and makes Continuing Professional Development (CPD) mandatory for maintaining professional licensing. A webinar introducing the programme covered entry requirements, examination structure, and how CPD is intended to be integrated into performance management systems, alongside the benefits of CISI membership such as ethics and conduct modules, study materials, and professional networks.
