The Bahamas Securities Commission issued instructions on selecting an entity type in the Bahamas automatic exchange of information bulk enrolment template. The guidance explains how reporting entities should answer the Common Reporting Standard non-reporting financial institution question and how to choose the corresponding entity classification from the template’s drop-down list. Entities should select “Yes” to the CRS non-reporting financial institution question only if they qualify as one of the listed categories, including governmental entities, international organisations, central banks, certain pension or retirement funds, qualified credit card issuers, or exempt collective investment vehicles. Trustee Documented Trusts should not be treated as non-reporting financial institutions for this purpose and should select “No” so the Trustee Documented Trust option appears in the next step. Where an entity is classified as a governmental entity or central bank, the template’s “International Organisation” option should be used. Trusts that have elected Trustee Documented Trust status should select “Trustee-Documented Trust” rather than “Investment Entity.”
