The authorisation framework is based on Regulation (EU) 2020/1503, with a national register maintained by the Central Bank of Latvia and an EU-wide register maintained by the European Securities and Markets Authority. The central bank noted that firms seeking authorisation in Latvia should apply to it and can refer to its licensing guide, with free advisory support available before applying and throughout the authorisation process.
