The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision has ordered the cessation of unauthorised insurance intermediation carried out through four websites offering insurance services without authorisation, and instructed Italian internet service providers to block access. The blocking measures are being implemented and may take several days for technical reasons. The affected domains are preventivi.b-brokersrl.it, rca.assicurazioninostress.it (and www.rca.assicurazioninostress.it), assicurazionitacchi.it (and www.assicurazionitacchi.it), and rc.euroassionline.eu (and www.rc.euroassionline.eu). The cease-and-desist orders are published in the “Defendiamoci dalle truffe” section of the IVASS website, bringing the total number of websites subject to blocking orders to 288 since IVASS began exercising this power in November 2023. IVASS also reiterated guidance to consumers to be cautious with insurance offers received via the internet, telephone or instant messaging, particularly for temporary motor third-party liability policies, and to verify before paying that quotes and contracts relate to duly authorised insurers and intermediaries by consulting IVASS lists and the insurance intermediaries register (RUI).
