The Oman Financial Services Authority reviewed how satellite imagery, drones, artificial intelligence and data analytics can strengthen flood risk analysis and the insurance sector’s preparedness for natural hazards. At a workshop with insurers, brokers, technology specialists and the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority, participants examined applications for data collection, predictive analysis and damage assessment. The technologies could provide more accurate asset valuations, improve underwriting and accelerate claims settlement and emergency response. The authority emphasized a shift from post-disaster response toward anticipating and mitigating risks, supported by closer collaboration among regulators, insurers and technology providers.
