Mexico's National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services reported that it handled 4,896 complaints in Veracruz from January through June 2026, an 8.6% increase from the prior year and 3.4% of the national total. Concluded complaints resulted in recoveries of MXN 45.9 million for users, while 52.6% of complaints were resolved in users’ favor. Multiple banking accounted for 62.9% of complaints, followed by insurers at 13.4% and credit information companies at 8.8%. Possible fraud involving unrecognized purchases and electronic transfers represented 34.7% of all complaints. Debit cards, credit cards and personal loans were associated with 83.6% of cases, and 68.6% of complaints were handled through the commission’s electronic case-management process.
