The National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan published a readout of a meeting between its Chairman Firdavs Tolibzoda and Irene Frei of the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs, focused on financial sector development and continued technical cooperation. The discussions covered financial inclusion, expansion of digital financial services, improvements to banking supervision, and broader structural reforms, with both sides indicating they would continue cooperation in support of Tajikistan’s financial sector reforms. According to the central bank, joint projects with Switzerland have contributed to strengthening Tajikistan’s financial infrastructure, developing digital services, raising financial literacy, and implementing the National Financial Inclusion Strategy for 2022-2026. The readout also described Tajikistan’s economy as maintaining a positive growth trend in 2026 and the banking system as stable, while digital financial services and non-cash payments continued to expand and the number of users of electronic payment instruments and electronic wallets increased steadily.
