The National Bank of Moldova published its monthly statistics on the domestic cash foreign exchange market, covering exchange offices’ purchases and sales of foreign currency against the Moldovan leu with individuals, expressed in EUR equivalents. Total cash FX turnover in September 2025 was EUR 446.5 million, comprising EUR 344.9 million in purchases and EUR 101.6 million in sales. The euro accounted for EUR 328.7 million of turnover, or 73.6% of the market, followed by the US dollar at EUR 70.2 million, or 15.7%. Other reported volumes included Romanian leu at EUR 10.0 million, Russian ruble at EUR 2.5 million and other currencies at EUR 34.4 million. Total turnover fell 11.2% compared with the previous month, while it rose 5.8% compared with September 2024, with purchases up 3.3% and sales up 15.1%. Volumes are converted to euros using the monthly average official exchange rates, and the series is published monthly by the end of the month following the reporting period.
