The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority has published its Life Insurance Claims and Disputes Statistics for the rolling 12-month period from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024, setting out industry and entity-level outcomes on claims and disputes for 16 Australian life insurers writing direct business. The latest data has also been incorporated into ASIC’s MoneySmart life insurance claims comparison tool, which compares insurers across cover types and distribution channels using four metrics: the percentage of claims accepted, the time taken to pay claims, the number of disputes and policy cancellation rates.
