The National Bank of Romania announced that it will join the European Central Securities Depository Association (ECSDA) as of 1 January 2026, in its capacity as administrator of the SaFIR system for the custody and settlement of financial instruments. ECSDA represents 40 national and international central securities depositories from 36 European countries and provides a forum for exchanging views and conducting projects of mutual interest. The association also promotes dialogue between the central securities depository community, European public authorities and other stakeholders, with the aim of supporting an efficient and modern post-trade infrastructure for European financial markets.
