The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) issued a warning after receiving reports of counterfeit drafts of surety bond (cauzione) insurance policies issued in the name of ADAC Versicherung AG, which the insurer has disowned. ADAC Versicherung AG told IVASS that the email address info@adacversicherung.it and the certified email (PEC) address adac@pec.adacversicherung.it are false and not attributable to the company. IVASS noted that ADAC Versicherung AG is a Germany-based insurer supervised by the home authority, the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), and is authorised to operate in Italy under freedom of services in various non-life lines, but renounced its authorisation in Italy for class 15 (Surety) on 15 July 2025. IVASS recommended that consumers exercise caution and verify, before paying premiums, that quotes and contracts are attributable to duly authorised insurers and intermediaries by consulting the relevant registers, lists and fraud alerts on the IVASS website.
