The Bank of England announced that His Majesty the King has reappointed David Roberts as Chair of the Court of the Bank of England. Roberts will serve a second four-year term commencing on 24 October 2026, and Dame Anne Glover and Diana Noble have also been reappointed as Non-Executive Directors until 31 May 2028 and 31 May 2027 respectively. The Court acts as the Bank’s board, responsible for overseeing strategy, governance, budget and the risk framework, and for ensuring the effective discharge of the Bank’s statutory functions. The reappointments were made in line with the Governance Code on Public Appointments, and the Bank noted that reappointments are considered on their merits rather than being automatic; all three appointees confirmed they have not engaged in political activity in the last five years.
