The Bank of France announced the formal appointment of Emmanuel Moulin as governor after approval by the finance committees of the National Assembly and Senate and confirmation by the Council of Ministers. He will take office on 2 June 2026 for a six-year term, succeeding François Villeroy de Galhau, who has been given the title of honorary governor, and will serve alongside deputy governors Denis Beau and Agnès Bénassy-Quéré. As governor, Moulin will chair the Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority, the observatories covering payment instrument security and banking inclusion, and the governing bodies of the overseas issue institutes. He will also sit on the High Council for Financial Stability and the strategic committee on financial education, and will represent the Bank of France on the European Central Bank Governing Council and General Council, the Bank for International Settlements board, the G7 and G20 finance tracks, and as alternate governor at the International Monetary Fund.
