The European Securities and Markets Authority has authorised EuroCTP B.V. to operate as the consolidated tape provider for shares and exchange-traded funds under the MiFIR framework. The service is intended to combine pre-trade and post-trade data from multiple contributors into a single stream, giving market participants a consolidated view of trading activity in EU equity markets. Retail investors, academics, civil society organisations and regulators will have free access to the data. Other users will be able to access it for a reasonable fee for internal use and use with clients. ESMA granted EuroCTP a transition period until 30 September 2026 to complete the operational and technical arrangements needed to start the service. Once operations begin, EuroCTP will run the consolidated tape for five years under ESMA's direct supervision, and ESMA called on data contributors and other market participants to stay engaged to support a smooth launch.
