The Financial Supervisory Authority of Norway expects Norwegian securities market participants to begin end-to-end testing for the European Union’s transition from a two-day to a one-day settlement cycle, which takes effect on Oct. 11, 2027. Although the related EU measures have not yet been incorporated into Norwegian law, the authority will use them in its supervision and expects firms to prepare on the same basis as EU participants. Firms should test systems and processes internally and with counterparties and clients across the trading and settlement chain as soon as possible. Key EU requirements for communicating allocations and confirmations will apply from Dec. 7, 2026. The authority also expects market participants to follow updated European Securities and Markets Authority guidelines on standardized procedures and messaging protocols between investment firms and professional clients from that date, and to use the EU T+1 Industry Committee’s roadmap and checklist in their preparations.
