In remarks by State Secretary for Finance and Treasury Ottoniel dos Santos, the Angola Ministry of Finance said the government will continue working with the National Bank of Angola, regulators and financial system operators to maintain a stable and predictable macroeconomic environment and strengthen a banking sector that is robust, competitive and integrated into international markets. He framed the return of correspondent banking relationships as the start of a new phase rather than an end point, with the real test being whether renewed confidence translates into more investment, more competitive companies, skilled jobs and broader economic diversification. The remarks also highlighted the ministry’s view that banking will become more digital, while still depending on trust, prudence, soundness and responsibility. That shift was presented as creating scope to improve efficiency, lower costs and widen access to financial services, but also as requiring continuous reinforcement of cybersecurity, consumer protection, operational risk management and regulatory capacity. International confidence, he said, depends on consistent decisions, credible institutions, predictable rules, and sustained standards of integrity, transparency and governance, with the internationalization of banking judged by its ability to serve the real economy.
