In remarks at Expoestrategas 2026, Superintendent of Insurance Guillermo Plate reviewed the Superintendency of Insurance’s efforts to strengthen insurer solvency and supervision through deregulation, institutional reforms and process modernization. He identified risk-based supervision, risk-based capital requirements and further regulatory adjustments as the next challenges for the sector. Plate also referred to previous license revocations undertaken within the applicable rules and with judicial backing as part of efforts to restore order in the market. He linked future market development to greater product availability, industry capitalization and risk-retention capacity, as well as closer ties between insurance, financing and investment.
