The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) has appointed Hedwig Ulmer Busenhart as Head of the Insurance division and a member of the Executive Board, with effect from 1 April 2026. She succeeds Birgit Rutishauser, who left FINMA in April 2025. The Insurance division has been led on an interim basis by Vera Carspecken since Rutishauser’s departure; Carspecken will gradually hand over responsibilities and will remain at FINMA after the transition. Busenhart joins from Helvetia Insurance Switzerland, where she was Head of Pension Provision Switzerland and a member of the Executive Management, and previously held senior actuarial roles; her career also includes roles at Swiss Life and Barry Callebaut.

The Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) has appointed Hedwig Ulmer Busenhart as Head of the Insurance division and Executive Board member, effective 1 April 2026. She succeeds Birgit Rutishauser, with Vera Carspecken having led the division on an interim basis. Busenhart joins from Helvetia Insurance Switzerland, bringing extensive experience from previous roles at Swiss Life and Barry Callebaut.
