Department of Finance Canada announced senior appointments at the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC), naming Gina Byrne as acting President and Chief Executive Officer effective 1 October 2025 and appointing Martin Glynn as Chairperson of the Board of Directors for a five-year term. The Minister of Finance and National Revenue, François-Philippe Champagne, also thanked outgoing President and CEO Leah Anderson and outgoing Chairperson Robert Sanderson for their service. CDIC is a federal Crown corporation that provides deposit insurance of up to CAD 100,000 for each of nine insured account categories at each CDIC member institution, including banks, federally regulated credit unions, and loan and trust companies. CDIC also serves as the resolution authority for its member institutions, and its deposit insurance fully covers approximately 95 per cent of all eligible deposit accounts at member institutions.

CDIC provides deposit insurance up to CAD 100,000 per account category and serves as the resolution authority for member institutions.
