The Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) reported that its Chief Executive Officer Julia Leung met in Hong Kong with Mohammed bin Abdullah Elkuwaiz, Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s Capital Market Authority (CMA), to advance dialogue on regulatory collaboration and support increased market connectivity. Senior executives from both regulators exchanged views on supervisory collaboration, the dual listing of investment products including exchange-traded funds and real estate investment trusts, and recent market and regulatory developments in Hong Kong and Saudi Arabia. The SFC and the CMA also co-hosted a Saudi-Hong Kong asset management roundtable with leading asset managers, alongside a separate session where around 30 representatives from Hong Kong industry associations met Saudi counterparts to discuss initiatives including expanding cross-border investment opportunities and potential partnerships. Both sides indicated an intention to continue the dialogue and work towards a framework for longer-term collaboration and knowledge exchange.
