The Central Bank of Egypt is participating in the 12th Digital Payment, Financial Inclusion, and Digital Banking (PAFIX) International Conference and Exhibition, held in parallel with the Cairo ICT Fair and Forum from 16 to 19 November 2025. The central bank framed its participation around digital transformation in banking services, with a focus on FinTech and artificial intelligence and on advancing digital payment systems in line with international standards for safeguarding transactions. During the Cairo ICT opening, Egypt’s Prime Minister visited the Central Bank of Egypt’s pavilion and was briefed on key projects and initiatives across AI technologies, FinTech, and electronic payment systems. The pavilion included a presentation of services to be made available through the “Digital Financial Identity” platform (Haweya), including a demonstration of remote customer identification for opening bank accounts; the platform is described as enabling banks and financial service providers to conduct electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) verification and allowing customers to open accounts and access digital services without visiting branches. Senior Central Bank of Egypt officials are scheduled to participate in conference sessions on Monday and Tuesday covering global shifts in banking and the impact of emerging technologies, particularly AI, on sector roles, systems, and infrastructure.
