Payments Canada has released its 2025 Annual Report, outlining progress on payments modernization, operational performance and broader organizational priorities. The report highlights continued work to advance the Real-Time Rail, with 2025 focused on industry readiness, comprehensive testing and a made-in-Canada design that includes centralized fraud services, alongside high availability across its core payment systems. ACSS recorded 100 per cent availability in 2025 and Lynx recorded 99.91 per cent. The report also notes that Lynx was fully transitioned to the ISO 20022 financial message standard using MX messages, and that Payments Canada ran a public consultation on changes to bill payment processing in ACSS aimed at improving efficiency, user experience and alignment with industry practices. It further points to Government of Canada support for the Real-Time Rail in the 2025 Budget and to Payments Canada research on payment behaviour, Real-Time Rail readiness and fraud.
