The Central Bank of Latvia's Supervision Committee has granted SIA AlphaRoute a licence to provide crypto-asset services under the European Union Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation. The authorisation covers custody and administration of crypto-assets on behalf of clients, operation of a crypto-asset trading platform, exchange of crypto-assets for funds and for other crypto-assets, placing of crypto-assets, and transfer services on behalf of clients. The licence was issued within the EU-wide MiCA regime, which requires crypto-asset service providers to obtain authorisation and allows a firm authorised in one member state to provide services across the EU through the cross-border notification mechanism. With AlphaRoute's approval, seven companies, including one investment firm, have now been authorised by the Central Bank of Latvia to provide crypto-asset services. The central bank also noted that it has issued 13 licences to financial market participants this year.
