The Central Bank of Egypt has begun preparing a sustainable finance taxonomy to provide consistent, verified data for identifying sustainable economic activities. The framework is expected to support environmental and social risk assessment in project financing and improve the investment environment for green and sustainable activities. An interagency technical working group comprising relevant ministries and the Financial Regulatory Authority has been established to coordinate development of the taxonomy. At its first meeting, members reviewed international standards and country practices and agreed to begin implementation work immediately with continued coordination among participating authorities.
