The South Korea Financial Supervisory Service reported that asset management companies’ preliminary net income rose 83.4% from the previous quarter and 214.3% from a year earlier to KRW2.6889 trillion in the second quarter of 2026. Assets under management reached KRW2,777.5 trillion at end-June, an increase of 17.9% from end-March, reflecting growth in both fund and discretionary assets. Quarterly fees and commissions revenue increased 37.7% to KRW2.6072 trillion, while securities investment related income climbed 159.6% to KRW829.7 billion. Return on equity rose to 51.9% from 31.1%. Despite stronger aggregate earnings, 220 of the 513 asset managers reported net losses, lifting the loss-making share to 42.9% from 37.6%.
