The Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission outlined its efforts to align the country’s sustainability reporting framework with internationally recognized standards, emphasizing that credible and transparent disclosures support market integrity, investor confidence and corporate resilience. Commissioner Javey Paul D. Francisco discussed the approach at the ASEAN-EU Sustainability Summit 2026, noting growing investor demand for consistent, comparable and decision-useful information as climate and governance risks increasingly affect capital allocation and business strategy. The Commission is moving toward standards aligned with the International Sustainability Standards Board and plans to phase in assurance requirements to improve the reliability and comparability of environmental, social and governance disclosures. Implementation will be proportionate to market readiness and institutional capacity, with reporting entities continuing to face challenges related to organizational capabilities, costs and data comparability.
