The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) has published a detailed Superannuation Complaints Guide, replacing its former Transitional Superannuation Guide, to explain how it interprets and applies relevant statutory powers, its Rules and superannuation complaints practices. The guide aligns with AFCA’s Operational Guidelines and reflects developments since AFCA’s establishment in 2018, when it brought together predecessor schemes including the Superannuation Complaints Tribunal. AFCA emphasises that the guide does not introduce new changes to how it manages superannuation complaints, but consolidates updates over recent years including new and updated AFCA Approaches, legislative changes, key judicial decisions, updates to AFCA’s Rules and Operational Guidelines, and changes to AFCA’s processes.
