The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan reported that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov met World Bank Managing Director of Operations Anna Bjerde on the sidelines of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund Spring Meetings. The talks reviewed Uzbekistan’s current macroeconomic situation and the status of World Bank-supported projects, and ended with an agreement to further develop cooperation in priority areas. Discussion covered economic growth, inflation, the external sector and budget policy parameters, alongside medium-term socio-economic forecasts. The sides also considered mechanisms for financing joint projects and measures to improve their effectiveness, exchanged views on the results of ongoing socio-economic reforms, and discussed further engagement with international financial institutions including preparing joint events and initiatives.
