Moldova's National Commission for Financial Markets discussed with UNDP Moldova how capital market instruments could be used to attract investment into renewable energy projects. The talks focused on financing photovoltaic plants in Roșcani, Călinești, Leova and Geamăna, including through municipal bond issuance, as part of a project aimed at supporting renewable energy suppliers and energy-related community investment. The discussion examined how capital market instruments could help mobilize funding for such projects and which regulatory aspects could support local public authorities in using these financing solutions. The commission framed the discussion within its support for broader use of modern financing tools to diversify investment sources, develop the capital market and fund public interest projects, including in renewable energy. The four localities are receiving support from UNDP and the Government of Slovakia to prepare energy investment projects and facilitate private sector participation in implementation.
