The National Bank of Romania published provisional monetary indicators showing broad money, or M3, reached RON 809.29 billion at the end of July 2026. M3 increased 0.7% from June and 7.6% from July 2025, equivalent to real growth of 0.1% month on month and a real decline of 0.5% year on year. Non-government credit fell 0.3% from June to RON 472.42 billion but remained 7.6% higher year on year. The annual increase was driven by 16.6% growth in foreign currency credit expressed in lei, while leu-denominated credit rose 3.6%. Credit to government increased 2.4% during the month and 12.6% year on year to RON 286.15 billion. Deposits from resident non-government clients rose 0.5% monthly and 7.8% annually to RON 684.55 billion, with leu deposits increasing 0.9% during July while foreign currency deposits expressed in lei declined 0.2%.
