The Central Bank of Nicaragua published the 2025 Nicaragua Tourism Satellite Account, reporting that tourism generated value added of NIO 39,245.7 million, up 11.6% from 2024, and accounted for 5.4% of total economy-wide value added (5.5% in 2024). Restaurants and similar services represented the largest share of tourism value added (35.8%), followed by accommodation (17.5%), transport (8.5%) and recreation (4.6%). Tourism-oriented production totalled NIO 79,550.5 million, up 11.8% year on year. Domestic tourism consumption of goods and services reached NIO 85,305.6 million (+11.8%), driven mainly by resident consumption of NIO 66,004.7 million (+14.6%), while non-resident consumption was NIO 19,300.9 million (+3.2%), linked primarily to a 4.0% rise in average daily per-capita spending. Outbound tourism consumption by residents travelling abroad was NIO 14,273.9 million, up 8.6%, with spending concentrated in transport (43.3%), purchases of goods and services (22.7%), restaurants (18.1%) and accommodation (13.9%).
