Banks prevented 43.8 million fraud attempts to steal customer money, protecting RUB 4.6 trillion, while malefactors still carried out 296,600 fraudulent transactions worth almost RUB 6.9 billion. Successful fraud volumes were near the average for the previous four quarters, with the largest losses occurring through remote banking channels such as online banking and transfers, including attacks using mobile malware. The Central Bank of Russia also initiated the blocking of 19,800 phone numbers used by malefactors and 7,100 fraudulent websites and social media pages.
