The Bank of Korea reported that the country’s official foreign reserves reached USD 442.3 billion at the end of August 2026, up USD 14.3 billion from USD 427.9 billion at the end of July. Securities increased by USD 7.1 billion to USD 387.1 billion and represented 87.5% of total reserves, while deposits rose by USD 7.2 billion to USD 30.3 billion. The remaining reserves comprised USD 15.8 billion in special drawing rights, USD 4.8 billion in gold and a USD 4.3 billion International Monetary Fund position.
