The Thailand Securities and Exchange Commission has asked the public prosecutor to file a Civil Court lawsuit against 12 people for manipulating the share price or trading volume of East Coast Furnitech Public Company Limited. It is seeking THB 269,950,759.08 plus interest, along with securities and derivatives trading suspensions and director and executive bars at the maximum statutory levels. The action follows the 12 individuals’ refusal to settle the case under civil sanctions previously imposed by the Civil Sanction Committee on 17 people. Five accepted those sanctions, which collectively included THB 264,695,855 in penalties, compensation and investigative costs, trading suspensions of 11 to 45 months, and director and executive bars of 22 to 90 months. The SEC also referred the matter to the Anti-Money Laundering Office because unfair securities trading is a predicate offense under Thailand’s anti-money laundering law.
