The Cyprus Ministry of Finance said Finance Minister Makis Keravnos met European Securities and Markets Authority Chair Verena Ross to discuss priorities linked to Cyprus's Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The talks focused on policies to strengthen financial stability in the European Union, the ongoing dialogue on integrating financial markets, and the supervision of markets. Keravnos said the Cypriot Presidency would give due attention to the file on a stronger and more effective role for ESMA, guided by proportionality, risk-based supervision and substantive supervisory convergence.
