The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has published a warning about two fraudulent websites, fpshkpay.life and hkmerchant.wiki, that impersonate Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited (HKICL) and falsely offer buyer protection and support for Faster Payment System (FPS) transactions. The websites have no affiliation with HKICL or its businesses. The sites seek personal and financial information under the guise of processing refunds, reporting unauthorized transactions or providing cash rewards and virtual wallet services. One also directs users to a WhatsApp account operated by fraudsters posing as customer service staff. HKICL does not provide FPS services directly to individual members of the public and generally does not contact them proactively.
