The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has published a warning from Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited (HKICL) about fraudulent websites falsely offering buyer protection, refunds and transaction support for Faster Payment System (FPS) payments. The websites direct users to fraudsters posing as customer service personnel. The sites include fpshk.net, fps-hk.giving and fpsrefund.vip. The latter also seeks identity documents, photographs, phone numbers and bank account details under the pretext of real name verification, cash rewards and virtual wallet transactions. HKICL has no affiliation with the sites, does not directly provide FPS services to individuals and does not ordinarily contact members of the public proactively.
