The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic announced that 2025-series DOP 2,000 banknotes will enter circulation from Tuesday 24 February 2026. The new notes have the same security features as the DOP 2,000 banknotes currently in circulation, which will remain legal tender for all public and private obligations. Production of the new series was commissioned through an international public tender in May 2025. The central bank highlighted security elements including a watermark, tactile marks for the visually impaired, a latent image, a security thread, microprinting, and the Central Bank’s visual identity logo, and cited constitutional provisions and the Monetary and Financial Law as the legal basis for issuance.
