The Insurance Commission of the Bahamas announced it participated in the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Sustainable Insurance Forum (SIF) Biannual Meeting in Tirana, Albania, marking its first attendance since joining SIF. The forum is a global network of insurance supervisors and regulators focused on strengthening the sector’s response to sustainability challenges, including climate change, resilience and inclusive finance. Held alongside the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) Annual Conference, the meeting reviewed SIF’s proposed 2026–2027 strategy, aligned on priorities for the forum’s next phase, and began preparations for SIF’s 10th anniversary in 2026. The Commission also noted the appointment of Ms Fundi Tshazibana, Deputy Governor of the South African Reserve Bank, as SIF Chair, and linked its engagement to The Bahamas’ climate-related risk exposure as a small island developing state.
