The Central Bank of Barbados is recruiting a Payment Oversight Officer for its Payments Oversight Unit in the Bank Supervision Department. The role is focused on monitoring the safety and efficiency of the National Payments System and the payment and settlement systems of financial institutions, with a view to ensuring compliance with payments and settlements regulation, fair access and competition, and prudential and other statutory requirements. Core duties include supporting analysis and examination of payment system design and operations, helping to apply internationally accepted principles and standards, identifying risks and recommending corrective action, and assisting in assessments of internal controls and operational risks among payment system stakeholders. The post also includes research and data collection to identify trends, issues, risks and payment system developments. Candidates must hold either an honours degree in business management, accounting, economics or banking, or a relevant professional qualification with at least two years' experience in a financial or regulatory environment, alongside training in risk, project and supervisory management.
