The National Bank of Moldova published highlights from Governor Anca Dragu’s remarks at the annual international conference “New Technology for Old Markets” in Chișinău, where she framed women’s leadership as a key input to economic transformation and stronger institutions. The event was organised by the National Bank of Moldova in partnership with the National Bank of Romania and the Banque de France. Beyond the opening address, Dragu moderated the “FinanciarELE” panel with the Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Visa’s Country Manager for Central Asia, and a senior research economist from the Banque de France. Discussion covered the economic effects of gender equality, reducing the employment gap between women and men, and expanding women’s representation in leadership roles across central banks, commercial banks, sovereign funds and public pension funds, including analysis of how leadership, policy and technology can accelerate women’s participation in finance. The release also referenced the National Bank of Moldova’s “FinanciarELE – women’s leadership community”, launched in March 2025, which supports women’s financial and leadership skills through education, mentoring and professional support.
