Luxembourg's Ministry of Finance announced that Finance Minister Gilles Roth visited China and Hong Kong as part of a financial mission with Luxembourg for Finance aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and expanding engagement with key public and private-sector financial stakeholders. The programme included bilateral meetings in Beijing with China's Finance Minister Lan Fo'an and People's Bank of China Governor Pan Gongsheng, as well as discussions with Li Yunze, minister and governor of the National Financial Regulatory Administration, China Securities Regulatory Commission Chair Wu Qing and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank President Jin Liqun. Roth also met senior figures from the Chinese financial sector in Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Hong Kong, and held talks in Shanghai with Vice Mayor Xie Dong and Zhejiang Province Vice Governor Zhang Yanyun. The mission concluded at the Asian Financial Forum in Hong Kong, where Roth joined a panel on restarting global growth and met representatives from the insurance sector, alongside exchanges with Hong Kong's Finance Secretary Paul Chang and Hong Kong Monetary Authority Chief Executive Eddie Yue; the ministry highlighted that seven of China's largest banks have their European headquarters in Luxembourg.
